49.1 pounds

Today in the midst of student presentations, the phone rang.  I always wonder who's calling during instructional time.  What a wonderful interruption ... the boys' soccer coach called to let me know that he had soccer jerseys for me to take to Haiti.  What a blessing!

I left school feeling excited about packing.  Yes, this would normally be an oxymoron.  And after some strategic stuffing, I weighed my bag ... 63.4 pounds.  Ouch!

I channeled Tim Gunn's famous words from Project Runway (make it work), moved some things around, and now it weighs 49.1 pounds.

Generosity

I am so blessed by the generosity of my students.  They have opened their hearts to share with the children in Haiti by donating clothing, supplies, and toys.  One of my students told me that the bag of clothing she wanted to donate weighs 200 pounds!  If only American Airlines didn't have weight limits for baggage.
